BNP leader Nurul Huda Chowdhury and 3 other leaders released

Three leaders, including Kamalnagar Upazila BNP General Secretary Nurul Huda Chowdhury, have been released on bail. They were released from Dhaka Central Jail on Tuesday. The others who were released on bail are Upazila Jubo Dal convener M Didar Hossain and Jatiyatabadi Sangskritik Sangsad (JASAS) member secretary Babul Hossain.

They were arrested in Dhaka four months ago. Later, multiple cases were filed against them and they were sent to jail. After a long imprisonment, the BNP leaders were released and the vitality returned among the leaders and activists.

Former MP ABM Ashraf Uddin Nijan said, "On November 6 last year, the police arrested three BNP leaders including Nurul Huda Chowdhury from Kakrail, Dhaka. Later, they were imprisoned with false cases filed against them. I strongly condemn and protest this incident. I demand immediate release from the false cases framed against them."




This time Pakistan 'stopped' Indian submarine

Amid heightened tensions, the Pakistani Navy has intercepted an Indian submarine as it entered Pakistani waters. The Pakistani Navy has twice stopped the Indian submarine.

A Pakistani navy spokesman said on Tuesday that the Indian submarine was intercepted for entering territorial waters on Monday night.
The Navy spokesperson also said that it was not a problem for the Pakistan Navy to destroy the sophisticated Indian submarine. But the Pakistani government adopted a policy of peace, not war, and so the submarine was left intact.

Tensions between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan have been high since the Pulwama terror attack in Kashmir. The Indian Navy's operation has added fuel to the fire amid weeks of tension.




Accused in Jubo Dal leader murder case arrested in Lakshmipur

Staff Correspondent: RAB has arrested Md. Milon alias Taklu Milon, the accused in the murder case of Israfil, the joint convener of Bashikpur Union Jubo Dal in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila.

Naresh Chakma, the company commander of RAB-11's Lakshmipur camp, confirmed the matter on Sunday (March 3) afternoon. He was arrested from Chandraganj Bazar in Sadar Upazila on Saturday (March 2) night. Arrested Milon is the son of the deceased Mansur Ahmed of Dainyapur village in Sadar Upazila.

It is learnt that Milon, the accused in the sensational Irafil murder case, was staying in the Dattapara Bazar of the upazila at the time of the incident. Based on a secret tip-off, he was arrested in a raid led by RAB 11 Squad Commander ASP Pranab Kumar.

Incidentally, on the night of March 11, 2015, terrorists shot and abducted Irafil at gunpoint in Kashipur village of Bashikpur union of Sadar upazila. At that time, pedestrian Sohag was shot by the terrorists. The next morning, police recovered Irafil's body from Dakshin Telia village of Chatkhil in Noakhali.




General public impressed by chairman candidate's speech in Kamalnagar

Abdur Rahman Didar said in his speech, "I have become an independent chairman candidate in the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections. What do you want? An alcoholic, gambler, extortionist, immoral, drug addict, and bad person to be the chairman?"

He further said, "I retired after serving in the Bangladesh Army for 16 years. I went to Africa on a mission from the army. There I learned how to love people, how to stand by people, how to lead."

I know how to serve people through leadership qualities and characteristics. I know how to develop the area and society. I know how to ensure education, medical services and prevent corruption.

He said, "You will choose your candidates and go to the polling station on March 24 to cast your valuable votes. I hope to serve you by being elected with your votes."

Abdur Rahman is the cultural affairs secretary of Didar District Sechchhasebak League and the son of the late Gafur Tahsildar, former chairman of the largest Char Lawrence UP.




Chairman candidate Bappi busy in the election field in Kamalnagar

 

Amjad Hossain Amu, Kamalnagar (Lakshmipur): Jubo League leader Mejbah Uddin Ahmed Bappi, the chairman candidate, is actively campaigning in the Kamalnagar Upazila Parishad election field in Lakshmipur. He is participating in the election as an independent candidate.

Mejbah Uddin Ahmed Bappi, born in a freedom fighter family. He was the president of Torabganj High School Chhatra League in 1994, the education and culture secretary of Laxmipur Government College Chhatra Sangsad in 2001, the president of Greater Ramgati Uttaranchal Chhatra League in 2000-2004, a member of the Upazila Jubo League in 2013, a member of the District Jubo League in 2016, and the joint secretary of the Upazila Jubo League in 2017. He is currently the convener of the Upazila Jubo League.




Rakhi Sawant wants to drop 100 bombs in Pakistan

Registration for 8th grade begins on March 3

The registration process for students studying in 8th grade is going to start from March 3. The online form filling and fee submission can be done till March 28. The registration fee has been fixed at 60 taka excluding fine.

Dhaka Secondary and Higher Education Board has released a revised registration notice for class 8 students on Wednesday (February 27). The notice provides detailed information about the registration.




Fishing banned in Padma-Meghna for two months

The government has banned all types of fishing, including hilsa, in the Padma-Meghna River Sanctuary area of Chandpur to conserve Jatka. The ban will be in effect from March 1 to April 30, said Chandpur District Fisheries Officer Asadul Baki.

Chandpur District Fisheries Officer Asadul Baki said that the district has designated a 90-kilometer sanctuary from Shatanal area of Matlab Uttar Upazila to Char Bhairavi of Haimchar Upazila and a 10-kilometer sanctuary from Char Bhairavi to Char Alexander of Raipur Upazila of Lakshmipur district.
He further said that there are 51,190 fishermen registered in Matlab North, Matlab South, Chandpur Sadar and Haimchar Upazilas. These fishermen will be made aware to refrain from killing jatka. In addition, awareness meetings, leaflet distribution, miking and banners will be put up in front of fish stalls in the river coastal areas. If we can save this jatka now, then the target level of Hilsa production will be achieved this season.




Pakistan claims two Indian fighter jets 'shot down', two pilots arrested

Pakistan has claimed to have shot down two Indian fighter jets for violating its airspace in Kashmir. The country's army has also said that it has captured two pilots from the downed aircraft, reports The Dawn.

Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted that the Pakistani Air Force shot down two Indian fighter jets after they violated Pakistani airspace. One Indian plane crashed in Indian-occupied Kashmir and the other crashed inside Pakistan. The pilot of the downed plane has been arrested by Pakistani law enforcement agencies.
However, the Dawn report said that an hour after the tweet, Major General Asif Ghafoor announced in a press conference that two pilots had been captured.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammad Faisal said, "The sole purpose of this show of force by Pakistan is to demonstrate our right and capability to defend ourselves. We do not want to increase tensions, but if anyone poses a threat to us, this is proof that we are fully prepared to deal with it."




Pakistan warplane shot down by Indian airstrikes, claims India

Following the Pulwama incident, Indian fighter jets 'Mirage 2000' entered deep inside Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the darkness of the early hours of Tuesday and bombed it. 24 hours after India's retaliation, Pakistani fighter jets violated the country's airspace.

Three Pakistani fighter jets were reportedly spotted in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning. However, the Indian Air Force was activated as soon as they were detected on radar. India claims that the Pakistani fighter jets eventually returned after chasing them. However, it is reported that they dropped a bomb before returning to Pakistan.
According to Indian military sources, three F-16 aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force, made with US technology, entered Nowshera this morning. The Indian Air Force was activated as soon as they were detected on the radar. The aircraft were chased and sent back. One of them was shot down. However, its pilot managed to jump out of the aircraft and escape across the Line of Control.
