Life-sentenced convict arrested 10 years after Biswajit's murder

RAB-2 has arrested Khandaker Md. Yunus Ali (36), a fugitive accused serving a life sentence in the Bishwajit Das murder case, from Narayanganj after 10 years. This information was given in a RAB press release on Tuesday morning.

The release said that based on intelligence information, a team of RAB-2 arrested Yunus Ali from Kellapur area of Narayanganj at 11:40 pm on October 31. During initial interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the murder.

Five brothers sentenced to life imprisonment for killing farmer in Kushtia 

The court sentenced 5 people to life imprisonment in the case of farmer Rezaul murder case filed by Kushti Kumarkhali police station and another year in prison.

On Monday (October 31) at noon, Additional District and Datra Judge of Kushtia, Judge Tajul Islam gave the verdict.

Those who received life imprisonment are Abdul Gafur (45), Jalal Uddin (38), Ujjal (35), Sejjad Prakash Sujat (25), and Sujan (23). They are each apan brother of Rath Rahmat Sheikh, who was present in the court.

According to the court, on June 11, 2007, at 10 pm, the water of the irrigation canal in Kumarkhali upazila was going to the field for the purpose of irrigation.

The next day, on June 12, Kumarkhali Thana, the uncle Afil Uddin of the deceased Rezaul named 08 people and gave an affidavit to 3/4 people as unknown accused.

Later, the police registered the case of Section 302/34 of the Penal Code.

After the investigation, Deputy Inspector of Police (SI) Samsul Alam Siddiqui of Kumarkhali Thana Police submitted a final report of the case against 12 people in the court on 07 January 2008.

In the investigation report of the case, the police mentioned that due to previous enmity, the accused killed farmer Rezaul Uddi in Kupit.

Body of mentally unstable woman recovered in Raipur

The body of a woman named Noor Nehar (45) was recovered from the canal adjacent to the canal of Bamni UP No. 9 and Essin Pole in Rakhpur, Laxmipur.

Student Forum holds protest march against drugs in Ramganj

In Sameshpur village of Bhadur Union No. 3 of Ramganj Upazila of Lakshmipur, a protest rally and procession was organized by the Chhatra Forum and the locals against the eviction of drug dealers' hideouts and anti-social activities including gambling. On Monday (October 31), at 11 am, the rally was held at the premises of Sameshpur Government Primary School and then a protest procession was held on various roads in the area.
