এ সময় আড়িয়ামুগুর নতুন হাটি গ্রামের মৃত অন্নদা সন্যাসী দাসের পুত্র জুয়েল চন্দ্র দাস(৩৫),আগুয়া গ্রামের মৃত সিরাজ মিয়ার পুত্র শফিক (৩৫), একই গ্রামের ললিত রবি দাসের পুত্র শ্যামল রবি দাস (৩৮) কে ৩২৪ লিটার দেশীয় চোলাই মদ সহ গ্রেফতার করা হয়।

Murder of friend in Lakshmipur: Three friends get life sentences

A court has sentenced three friends to life imprisonment for killing a young man named Mehraj Hossain by drugging him and then tying a belt around his neck in Lakshmipur.

District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Rahibul Islam delivered the verdict on Tuesday (October 25) afternoon.

The convicts are Abdullah Al Mamun, Sajib Ahmed and Tanvir Hossain Bijoy. Mamun is the son of Md. Yusuf of Uttar Hooghly village under Sudharam police station in Noakhali, Sajib is the son of Nurul Islam of Matahapur village under the same police station, and Bijoy is the son of Shahidul Islam of Rawal Diya village.

Cyclone Sitrang: PM orders all-out preparations

The Meteorological Department has said that Cyclone Sitrang, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, will hit the coastal districts of Bangladesh.

In this situation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed those concerned to make all-out preparations to deal with the possible damage from the cyclone.

The government news agency reported this on Monday (October 24) afternoon, citing the Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.

Immediately after Cyclone Sitrang was forecast to hit the country's coastal areas on Tuesday, the Prime Minister has been receiving information from field-level officials and has given all necessary instructions to the concerned officials to minimize the loss of life and property due to the storm.




'Sitrang' is 335 kilometers away from the coast

Cyclone Sitrang, which is at sea, is located 335 kilometers south-southwest of the Payra seaport, the Meteorological Department said.

It is also located 395 kilometers southwest of Cox's Bazar seaport and 440 kilometers southwest of Chittagong seaport, the agency said.

This information was given in the Meteorological Department's special warning No. 9 at noon today, Monday (October 24).

The warning states that Cyclone 'Sitrang', which is located in the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal and north Bay of Bengal areas, is moving north-northeastwards and is located in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent northeast Bay of Bengal areas (latitude: 19.2° North, longitude: 89.2° East).

It was located 440 km southwest of Chittagong Seaport, 395 km southwest of Cox's Bazar Seaport, 365 km south-southwest of Mongla Seaport and 335 km south-southwest of Payra Seaport at 12 noon today (October 24, 2022). It is likely to intensify further and move north-northeastwards and cross the Barisal-Chittagong coast near Khepupara by midnight today/early tomorrow morning.
