প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা স্বাধীনতার ৫০ বছর পূর্তিতে আগামী ২৬ অক্টোবর (বৃহস্পতিবার) দেশের বিভিন্ন অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলে (ইজেড) ৫০টি শিল্প ইউনিট, প্রকল্প ও ভবন উদ্বোধন করবেন।
বাংলাদেশ অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চল কর্তৃপক্ষ (বেজা)’র নির্বাহী চেয়ারম্যান শেখ ইউসুফ হারুন জানান, প্রধানমন্ত্রী সারাদেশে ইজেডগুলোতে ভার্চ্যুয়ালি ৫০টি শিল্প ইউনিট, প্রকল্প ও ভবন উদ্বোধন করবেন। বেজা আটটি ভেন্যুতে এ অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজন করবে।
চাল-আটাসহ অন্যান্য নিত্যপণ্যের মত অস্থির হয়ে উঠেছে দেশের চিনির বাজার। খুচরা বাজারে প্রতি কেজি চিনি বিক্রি হচ্ছে ১১০ টাকা। যা স্মরণকালের সর্বোচ্চ বলে জানিয়েছেন সংশ্লিষ্টরা। তিন থেকে চার দিনের ভেতরে কেজিপ্রতি ১৫ থেকে ২০ টাকা বেড়ে যাওয়ায় ক্রেতাদের মধ্যে ব্যাপক ক্ষোভের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।
আজ শনিবার (২২ অক্টোবর) চিনির বাজার নিয়ন্ত্রণে সকাল থেকে বিশেষ অভিযানে নামছে জাতীয় ভোক্তা অধিকার সংরক্ষণ অধিদপ্তর।
রাজধানীর খুচরা ব্যবসায়ীরা বলেন, তিন থেকে চার দিন আগে চিনি ৯৫ টাকা দরে বিক্রি করেছি। সেটা এখন ১১০ টাকা কেজি দরে বিক্রি করতে হচ্ছে। বস্তা প্রতি চিনির দাম এক হাজার ৫০ টাকা বেড়েছে। মিরপুরের শেওড়াপাড়ার খুচরা চিনি বিক্রেতা মো. শহিদুল ইসলাম বলেন, তিনদিন আগেও ৫০ কেজির চিনির বস্তা কিনেছি ৪২৫০ টাকায়, সেটা আজ ৫৩০০ টাকা দরে কিনতে হচ্ছে। অর্থাৎ বস্তাপ্রতি ১০৫০ টাকা বেড়েছে।
তিনি আরও বলেন, ১০৬ টাকা করে কিনে ১১০ টাকায় বিক্রি করতে হচ্ছে। এ অস্বাভাবিক বাজারে পণ্য কিনতেও ভয় লাগে। বাজার দর কমে গেলে লসে বিক্রি করতে হবে। তবে এর আগে কখনো চিনির দাম ১০০ টাকার বেশি ওঠেনি বলেও তিনি উল্লেখ করেন।

The meeting was attended by Upazila Chairman Monir Hossain Chowdhury, Executive Officer Umme Habiba Mira, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Monira Khatun, Project Implementation Officer Dilip Dey, Vice Chairman Delwar Hossain Dewan Bachchu, Chandipur UP Chairman Shamsul Islam Sumon, Upazila Primary Teachers Association President Sheikh Jahangir and General Secretary Afroza Akhter, etc. In this incident, Upazila Primary Teachers Association President Sheikh Jahangir and General Secretary Afroza Akhter along with teachers demanded a proper solution to the incident. Meanwhile, on Friday (October 21), when the matter spread everywhere, it created widespread discussion and criticism throughout the upazila.
According to local sources, Jewel Rana, Deputy Assistant Engineer of Ramganj Upazila (PIO) Project Implementation Department, and his wife, expatriate mother of 2 children and assistant teacher Nasrin Akhter, have been having an immoral relationship for 4 years due to extramarital affairs. The teacher has been demanding marriage repeatedly, but Jewel Rana has been passing the time without getting married, which has created a rift between the two. The teacher complained to the police station about 2 years ago, but Jewel Rana hastily married elsewhere without resolving the matter. Angry at this, the teacher complained to the Upazila Executive Officer. In view of the complaint, this meeting was held. Sheikh Jahangir and Afroza Akhter, presidents of the Upazila Primary Teachers' Association, said, "We were present at the meeting, but the issue was not resolved. We are demanding a proper solution in this regard."
Shamsul Islam Sumon, chairman of Chandipur Union No. 5, said that the meeting did not resolve any issues, so time was given to sign the stamp.
Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Dilip Dey said, "After the meeting, I am leaving for Dhaka. I will discuss the details in the meeting."
Upazila Vice Chairman Delwar Hossain Dewan Bachchu said that the matter is complicated. Therefore, by the decision of everyone in the meeting, both of them were given time to complete the work.
Upazila Executive Officer Umme Habiba Mira said, "Efforts are being made to resolve this issue. Please wait without writing."

A housewife named Nupur Akhtar (25) was allegedly murdered by her husband in Boalmari municipality of Faridpur. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalmari Police Station Muhammad Abdul Wahab confirmed the truth of the information on Friday (October 21) morning.
Earlier, on Thursday (October 20), the murder took place in Madhragati village of Boalmari municipality around 11 pm. Locals claim that the murder was committed due to his wife's infidelity.
Locals said that husband Musa Molya (32) stabbed his wife Nupur with a sharp weapon due to extramarital affairs. Later, Nupur was rescued and taken to Boalmari Upazila Health Complex. When her condition deteriorated there, Nupur died around 1 am on the way to Dhaka via Faridpur Medical Hospital. Husband Musa is said to be the son of Kawsar Molya of Madhgargati village.
Boalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Abdul Wahab said, "A police team has been sent to the spot after receiving the information. We will be able to provide more details about this later," the police official said.

নেত্রকোণা জেলায় এ বছর দু দফা বন্যা শেষে ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ কৃষকদের রোপা আমন আবাদ শেষ হয়েছে দেরিতে। পিছিয়ে গেছে ফলনের সময়ও। পাহাড়ি সমতলসহ হাওরের বিভিন্ন এলাকায় সেপ্টেম্বর মাস পেরিয়ে অক্টোরের প্রথম সপ্তাহ পর্যন্ত চলেছে এ আবাদ। বিলম্বে আবাদের কারণে ভালো ফলন না হওয়া নিয়ে শঙ্কিত কৃষকরা। এছাড়াও জ্বালানি তেলের দাম বৃদ্ধি সারের মজুদ রেখে বাড়তি দামে বৃক্রির অভিযোগ। এদিকে বন্যার ফলে দেরিতে আবাদের বিষয়টি স্বীকার করে কৃষির উধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা জানালেন এবছর লক্ষ্যমাত্রা অর্জিত হয়ে বেশি আবাদ হয়েছে।
সরেজমিন ঘুরে দেখা গেছে, দফায় দফায় বন্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হয়ে মওসুম গেলেও পিছিয়ে আবাদ হয়েছে জেলার হাওরসহ নীচু এলাকাগুলোতে। যেমন পাহাড়ি উপজেলা দুর্গাপুরের বিভিন্ন ইউনিয়নে মওসুমের মাঝেই আবাদ শেষ হলেও বাকলজোরা এবং কাকৈড়গড়া ইউনিয়নে মওসুম পার করে আবাদ সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। এদিকে জেলার হাওরাঞ্চল মদন এবং আটপাড়ার তেলিগাতি, কৃষ্ণপুরসহ বেশ কিছু এলাকায় পানি থাকায় আবাদ বিলম্ব হয়েছে। পানি যেখান থেকে সরছে কৃষকরা সেখানেই চারা রোপন করছেন। আবাদ পিছিয়ে যাওয়ায় ফলনে শীতকালে কোল্ড ইনজুরীতে পড়ার শঙ্কায় কৃষকরা। কোথাও কোথাও ফিশারি করে পানি আটকে রাখায় তাদের আমন আবাদে বিলম্ব হওয়ার কথা জানান। পাশাপাশি জ¦ালানি তেলের দাম বৃদ্ধিসহ নানা সমস্যার কথা তুলে ধানের দর কম হওয়া নিয়ে শঙ্কার কথা জানালেন তারা।
নেত্রকোণা জেলা কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদফতরের (খামারবাড়ি) উপ পরিচালক কৃষিবিদ মোহাম্মদ নুরুজ্জামান জানান, জেলায় এবছর রোপা আমন আবাদের লক্ষ্যমাত্রা ধরা হয়েছিলো ১ লক্ষ ৩২ হাজার ৫৮০ হেক্টর। তারমধ্যে আবাদ হয়েছে ১ লক্ষ ৩৩ হাজার ৭৫ হেক্টর। আবাদের লক্ষ্য মাত্রা ছাড়িয়ে যাওয়ায় খুশি প্রকাশ করেন।
পাশাপাশি বিলম্ব হওয়ার কথা স্বীকার করে জানান, কোথাও কোথাও হয়তো পানি জমে থাকায় পকেট সমস্যা হয়ে থাকতে পারে। তবে ফলন ভালো হবে বলেও আশাবাদ ব্যাক্ত করেন তিনি। জ্বালানির দাম বাড়ার বিষয়টিও স্বীকার করে তিনি বলেন সারের দাম কৃষকের ক্রয়ক্ষমতায় রাখার জন্য প্রতিনিয়ত তারা মনিটরিং করেছেন। তবে বন্যায় ফলনের ক্ষতি কাটিয়ে উঠতে এখন থেকেই রবিশ্যস্য আবাদের প্রস্তুতি রাখার কথাও জানান তিনি।

Isaba Karbari Rubel (25) was arrested in Banachong police raid on Thursday (October 20) at 10:00 pm, Itaba Karbari Rubel was arrested from the first line of South West Union of South West Union.

A young man named Md. Sohag (22) from Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur, has been accused of selling his wife to an Indian brothel after not receiving dowry money. The police have arrested him on this charge.

He was arrested based on the confession and complaint of the victim housewife. Sohag is the son of Safiq Ulya of Charubhuti village of Bhabaniganj union in Sadar upazila. He is in the custody of Kamalnagar Police Station.
The victim's family said that about 5 months ago, Sohag married Rina Akhter, daughter of Tajul Islam of Motirhat area of Charkalkini union in Kamalnagar, in a family marriage. Although a dowry of 50 thousand taka was supposed to be given, 30 thousand taka was given. Sohag pressured his wife at various times for the remaining money. In the meantime, two months of marriage passed. Later, Sohag took Rina to Dhaka, promising to travel. There, after giving her drugs and smuggling her in a drum, Sohag took her to his sister near Kolkata, India. Later, even though Sohag returned to the country, he left Rina behind.
Police said that after being offered the remaining dowry money, Sohag, tempted by the offer, went to his in-laws' house on Wednesday (October 19) night. He was detained there and the in-laws informed the police. Later, the police arrested him and brought him to the police station.
Victim Rina Akhter told reporters, "I was drugged and taken to a person named Shahida in India. Shahida is said to be Sohag's sister. I was subjected to inhuman torture there for 3 months. If I did not listen to them, they would physically torture me. I want justice for Sohag and his sister Shahida."
In this regard, Kamalnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Solaiman said that Sohag has been arrested based on the complaint. However, the truth of the incident has not yet been revealed.
