ফরিদপুর জেলা পরিষদ নির্বাচনে চেয়ারম্যান পদে ৬২৫ ভোট পেয়ে বেসরকারিভাবে বিজয়ী হলেন স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী মো. শাহাদাৎ হোসেন। এ নির্বাচনে তাঁর নিকটতম প্রতিদ্ব›দ্বী বাংলাদেশ আওয়ামী লীগ সমর্থিত প্রার্থী মো. ফারুক হোসেন ৫৪০ পেয়ে পরাজিত হয়েছেন। এর মধ্যে সাহাদাৎ হোসেন -চশমা প্রতীক নিয়ে, ফরিদপুর সদর-৬৩, মধুখালী-৬০, বোয়ালমারী -৬৬, আলফাডাঙ্গা-৩২, ভাঙ্গা-১৩০, সালথা-৭৩, নগরকান্দা -৮৬, সদরপুর-৬৮ ভোটসহ মোট ৬২৫ ভোট পেয়ে বেসরকারিভাবে বিজয়ী হন।

অপরদিকে ফারুক হোসেন-আনারস প্রতীক নিয়ে ফরিদপুর সদর-১২৯, মধুখালী-৯৮, বোয়ালমারী ৭৯, আলফাডাঙ্গা ৬১, ভাঙ্গা-৪০, সালথা-৩০,নগরকান্দা-৪৬, সদরপুর-৩৮ভোটসহ মোট ৫৪০ ভোট পেয়ে পরাজিত হন। সোমবার (১৭ অক্টোবর) শাহাদাৎ হোসেনকে বেসরকারিভাবে চেয়ারম্যান পদে বিজয়ী ঘোষণা করা হয়। এ নির্বাচনে বিজয়ী হওয়ায় মো. শাহাদাৎ হোসেনকে বিভিন্ন শ্রেণি-পেশার মানুষ অভিনন্দন ও শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছেন।

এদিকে, সোমবার সকাল ৯টা থেকে দুপুর ২টা পর্যন্ত জেলার ৯টি উপজেলার ৯টি কেন্দ্রে ভোট গ্রহণ করা হয়। এতে মোট ভোটার ছিলেন ১১৮১ জন। ভোট কাস্ট হয় ১১৬৭ টি। বিপরীতে চেয়ারম্যান পদে ৩ জন, সদস্য পদে ৩৭ জন ও সংরক্ষিত নারী সদস্য পদে ১১ জন প্রতিদ্ব›িদ্বতা করেন।

ফরিদপুরের জেলা প্রশাসক অতুল অতুল সরকার জানান, নির্বাচনকে ঘিরে র‌্যাব, পুলিশ, আনসার ও বিজিবির চার স্তরের নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী মোতায়েন রাখা হয়। এছাড়া প্রতিটি কেন্দ্রে একজন করে নির্বাহী ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট সহ জুডিশিয়াল স্ট্রাইকিং ফোর্স কাজ করে। কোথাও কোনো অভিযোগ পাওয়া যায়নি। নির্বাচন অবাধ ও সুষ্ঠু হয়েছে বলে দাবী প্রশাসনের এ কর্মকর্তার।

সিসিটিভির মাধ্যমে নির্বাচন পর্যবেক্ষণকে নতুন অভিজ্ঞতা উল্লেখ করে প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনার (সিইসি) কাজী হাবিবুল আউয়াল বলেছেন, আগামীতে এ অভিজ্ঞতা আমাদের সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের সুযোগ করে দেবে। আমরা শুরু থেকেই বলে আসছি, সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন চাই। ভোটাররা এখন সুষ্ঠুভাবে ভোটাধিকার প্রয়োগ করতে পারছেন।

Yasin Alam, Ichapur Union Parishad member Billal Hossain, Faruk Hossain, Bhatra Union Parishad member Yasin Arafat Wasim, Ali Ashraf member said that Saikat Mahmud Shamsu has been asking voters for votes door to door even before the schedule was announced. He is trying to garner the support of leaders and activists of Awami League and other allied organizations.

Winning candidate Saikat Mahmud Shamsu said, this victory is the victory of all the voters of the public representatives of Ramganj Upazila. This victory is not mine, this victory is the victory of all the voters of the Zilla Parishad of the Upazila. He expressed his gratitude to the MP of Lakshmipur-1 Ramganj parliamentary constituency Dr. Anwar Hossain Khan MP, the Chairman of the Upazila Parishad Bir Muktijoddha Alhaj Monir Hossain Chowdhury, the Mayor Bir Muktijoddha Abul Khair Patwari, the Chairman, Members, and Councilors of various Union Parishads. My Bangladesh Party has submitted an application to the Election Commission (EC) to register for the parliamentary elections.

Today, Monday (October 17), the party's convener AFM Solaiman Chowdhury submitted the application to EC Deputy Secretary Md. Abdul Halim Khan at the Election Building.

After submitting the application, he said, "We have submitted a total of 45,000 documents to the EC. We have tried to fulfill all the conditions to get registration."

AB Party member secretary Mujibur Rahman Manju said that AB Party is not loyal to either Jamaat or the government.

AB Party leaders said that as per the conditions given by the Election Commission, the party constitution, proposed flag and symbol, address and ownership or rental documents or agreements of the central office, list of central committee and central executive committee, at least one-third (22) district committees, 100 upazila committees, list of at least 200 registered voter members from 100 upazilas, i.e. a total of 22,000, their voter numbers and party membership certificates, addresses and ownership or rental documents or agreements of 122 party offices in districts and upazilas, party bank accounts and latest transaction status, and all other relevant documents have been submitted.

New parties can apply for registration until the 29th of this month. It is known that about 20 parties have already applied.

সংরক্ষিত (ওয়ার্ড নং ২) মহিলা প্রার্থীর মধ্যে (ফুটবল)প্রতিকে ১৪৬ ভোট পেয়ে বেসরকারিভাবে নির্বাচিত হয়েছে শারমিন জাহান অরিন।
