ফুটবল খেলার ট্রফি ভেঙে আলোচনায় আসা বান্দরবানের আলীকদম উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (ইউএনও) মেহরুবা ইসলামকে বদলি করা হয়েছে। বান্দরবন থেকে তাকে ঢাকা বিভাগে বদলি করা হয়েছে।

সোমবার (২৬ সেপ্টেম্বর) জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয়ের সিনিয়র সহকারী সচিব শেখ শামছুল আরেফীন স্বাক্ষরিত প্রজ্ঞাপনে বদলির আদেশ জারি করা হয়। মঙ্গলবার প্রজ্ঞাপনের বিষয়টি জানা গেছে।

প্রজ্ঞাপনে জানানো হয়, উপজেলার নির্বাহী অফিসার (ইউএনও) মেহেরুবা ইসলামকে ঢাকা বিভাগে উপ‌জেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার হি‌সে‌বে ন্যস্ত কর্মকর্তা পদায়নকৃত অধিক্ষেত্রে এক্সিকিউটিভ ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করার নিমিত্তে ফৌজদারি কার্যবিধি ১৮৯৮ এর ধারা-১৪৪ এর ক্ষমতা অর্পণ করা হলো। জনস্বার্থে জা‌রিকৃত এ আদেশ অবিলম্বে কার্যকর হবে মর্মে প্রজ্ঞাপনে উল্লেখ করা হয়।

এর আগে শুক্রবার (২৩ সেপ্টেম্বর) বিকেলে ২ নম্বর চৈক্ষং ইউনিয়নের রেপারপাড়া এলাকায় সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় মাঠে আবাসিক স্বাধীন যুব সমাজের উদ্যোগে আন্তঃইউনিয়ন ফুটবল টুর্নামেন্টের ফাইনাল খেলায় আবাসিক জুনিয়র একাদশ বনাম রেপার পাড়া বাজার একাদশ দলের ফাইনাল খেলা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

খেলায় প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন আলীকদম উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার মেহরুবা ইসলাম। খেলায় সমাপনী বক্তব্যে এবং পুরস্কার বিতরণ করার একপর্যায়ে ইউএনও জনসাধাণের ওপর ক্ষিপ্ত হয়ে ট্রফি (কাপ) ভেঙে ফেলেন।

এতে আলীকদম উপজেলায় বেশ উত্তেজনাকর পরিস্থিতির সৃষ্টি হয়। পরে ইউএনও বিরুদ্ধে সেখানে বিভিন্ন প্রতিবাদ কর্মসূচিও পালন করা হয়। এরমধ্যেই তাকে বদলি করা হলো।

পঞ্চগড়ের বোদা উপজেলায় করতোয়া নদীতে পুণ্যার্থীদের নৌকাডুবির ঘটনায় মৃতের সংখ্যা শুধু বাড়ছেই। এ ঘটনায় মৃতের সংখ্যা বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৫৬ জনে। মৃতদের মধ্যে নারী ও শিশু রয়েছেন। নিখোঁজ রয়েছেনে এখনো ৩০ জনের অধিক।

রোববার (২৫ সেপ্টেম্বর) মহালয়া উপলক্ষে জেলার বিভিন্ন এলাকা থেকে আসা সনাতন ধর্মাবলম্বীরা নৌকায় করে বোদা উপজেলার বরদেশ্বরী মন্দিরে যাচ্ছিলেন উৎসবে যোগ দিতে। দুপুরের দিকে মাড়েয়া বামনহাট ইউনিয়নের আউলিয়া ঘাট এলাকায় একটি নৌকা উল্টে যায়।প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা বলছেন, নৌকাটিতে দেড় শতাধিক যাত্রী ছিলেন। কিছু মানুষ সাঁতরে নদীর তীরে ফিরতে পারলেও অনেকেই নিখোঁজ থাকেন।

এই ঘটনায় পাঁচ সদস্যের একটি তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন করা হয়েছে। তদন্ত কমিটির প্রধান ও পঞ্চগড়ের অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক দীপঙ্কর রায় জানান, এখন পর্যন্ত ৫৬ জনের লাশ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। কয়েকজন বাদে বাকি সবার লাশ পরিবারের কাছে হস্তান্তর করা হয়েছে। উদ্ধার অভিযান অব্যাহত রয়েছে।

ইতোমধ্যে জেলা প্রশাসনের পক্ষ থেকে নিহতদের সৎকারের জন্য ২০ হাজার টাকা ও আহতদের পাঁচ হাজার টাকা করে আর্থিক সহায়তা দেওয়া হয়। ঘটনার সুষ্ঠু তদন্তের জন্য অতিরিক্ত জেলা ম্যাজিস্ট্রেটকে প্রধান করে পাঁচ সদস্যের একটি তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন করা হয়েছে।
