খ্রিস্টান সম্প্রদায়ের সর্ববৃহৎ ধর্মীয় উৎসব বড়দিনে রাজশাহীর একটি গির্জার প্রার্থনা কক্ষে পবিত্র কুরআন শরীফ রেখে আসার অভিযোগ পাওয়া গেছে এক ব্যক্তির বিরুদ্ধে। এরপর ওই প্রতারক ব্যক্তি নিজেকে ঈসা নবী দাবি করেন। রবিবার (২৫ ডিসেম্বর) সকাল পৌনে সাতটার দিকে কাশিয়াডাঙ্গা থানা এলাকার বাগানপাড়ায় অবস্থিত উত্তম মেষপালক ক্যাথিড্রাল চার্চে এই ঘটনা ঘটে।

বিষয়টি জানার পর নগরীর নিউমার্কেট এলাকায় দুপুর ১২ টায় অভিযান চালিয়ে অভিযুক্ত ওই ব্যক্তিকে গ্রেপ্তার করে পুলিশ। পুলিশের দাবি, গ্রেফতারকৃত ওই ব্যক্তি নিজেকে ঈসা নবী হিসেবে দাবি করছেন।

গ্রেপ্তারকৃত ওই ব্যক্তির নাম গোলাম চৌধুরী (৩৪)। তিনি চন্দ্রিমা থানাধীন ছোট বনগ্রাম নিউ কলোনী এলাকার মৃত কুদ্দুস চৌধুরীর ছেলে।

ঘটনার পর রাজশাহী নগরীর উপকণ্ঠ কাশিয়াডাঙ্গা থানা এলাকার বাগানপাড়া মেষপালক ক্যাথিড্রাল চার্চসহ অন্যান্য চার্চের নিরাপত্তা জোরদার করা হয়েছে।

উত্তম মেষপালক ক্যাথিড্রাল চার্চের ফাদার উত্তম রেজারিও বলেন, রবিবার সকালে ধর্মীয় আনুষ্ঠানিকতার একপর্যায়ে এক ব্যক্তি চার্চের প্রার্থনা কক্ষে উপস্থিত হন। এ সময় উপাসনা কক্ষে হাতেগোনা কয়েকজন উপস্থিত ছিলেন। তাদের মধ্যে একজনকে ওই ব্যক্তি তার হাতে থাকা কুরআন শরীফ নিতে বলেন। তবে না নেয়ায় কুরআন শরীফটি চার্চের প্রার্থনা কক্ষেই রেখে চলে যান ওই আগুন্তক।

ঘটনার পর কাশিয়াডাঙ্গা থানা পুলিশকে বিষয়টি জানানো হয়। তারা এসে কুরআন শরীফটি উদ্ধার করে নিয়ে যায়।

রাজশাহী মহানগর পুলিশের কমিশনার আবু কালাম সিদ্দিক জানান, গ্রেপ্তারকৃত যুবক লাল রঙের একটি কাপড়ে মুড়িয়ে পবিত্র কুরআন শরীফ গির্জায় রেখে আসেন। পরে গির্জা সংশ্লিষ্টরা পুলিশকে জানান। গির্জায় থাকা সিসি ক্যামেরার ফুটেজ সংগ্রহ করা হয়। এরপর রাজশাহী মহানগরীর বিভিন্ন মোড়ে স্থাপন করা সিসি ক্যামেরা ফুটেজ দেখে অভিযুক্ত ওই ব্যক্তিকে শনাক্ত করা হয় এবং মার্কেট এলাকা থেকে দুপুর ১২ টায় গ্রেফতার করা হয়।

কমিশনার আরো জানান, গ্রেফতারকৃত গোলাম চৌধুরী নিজেকে ঈসা নবী হিসেবে দাবি করছেন। প্রাথমিক জিজ্ঞাসাবাদে তিনি জানান যীশু খ্রিস্টের জন্মদিন বড়দিনের ধর্মীয় ভাব গাম্ভীর্য ও সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি বিনষ্ট করা, ধর্মীয় পবিত্রতা বিনষ্ট করা এবং দেশব্যাপী নৈরাজ্য সৃষ্টি করার নিমিত্তে সে উত্তম মেষপালক গির্জায় পবিত্র কোরআন শরীফ রেখে আসেন।
