 Coast Guard members of Bhola's Tajumuddin recovered the bodies of an unidentified male floating from the Meghna river and handed it over to the police after the police sent the body to the Bhola morgue for postmortem.

Coast Guard and police sources said that at 11:15 a.m. on Monday (September 5), Coast Guard personnel found a floating body in the area between the Meghna River Basanabhanga and Char Kanchan area, and later they recovered the body and handed it over to the police.

Tajumuddin police station officer in-charge Maksudur Rahman Murad told Palli News that the recovered body had no head (bald) hair, wearing a maroon colored Punjabi white patijama and a wristwatch.

Age estimates will be 40 to 45. The body is swollen. For postmortem, Bhola has been sent to the morgue.

বরগুনা-২ আসনের বিএনপি সমর্থিত সাবেক জাতীয় সংসদ সদস্য আলহাজ্ব নুরুল ইসলাম মনির গাড়ি বহরে রবিবার (০৪ সেপ্টেম্বর) বিকেলে পাথরঘাটা উপজেলার নাচনাপাড়ার সিএন্ডবি এলাকায় গাড়ি বহরে হামলা চালিয়েছে ছাত্রলীগ-যুবলীগ।

তেল, গ্যাস ও নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় দ্রব্য মূল্যের ঊর্ধ্বগতির প্রতিবাদে কেন্দ্র ঘোষিত বিক্ষোভ মিছিল ও সমাবেশে যোগ দেয়ার জন্য ঢাকা থেকে আসছিলেন সাবেক এমপি নুরুল ইসলাম মনি। তার গাড়ি বহর পাথরঘাটার সিএনবি এলাকায় ঢুকলে যুবলীগ ও ছাত্রলীগ প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তোলে এবং সেখানে শতাধিক মোটরসাইকেল ভাঙচুর ও অগ্নিসংযোগ করে। পিটিয়ে আহত করে বিএনপির শতাধিক নেতাকর্মীকে। এই ঘটনায় এলাকায় বর্তমানে চরম থমথমে অবস্থা বিরাজ করছে।

প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানিয়েছেন, দীর্ঘ ১৬ বছর পর নিজ এলাকায় আসছেন বিএনপি নেতা ও বরগুনা-২ আসনের সাবেক সংসদ সদস্য আলহাজ্ব নুরুল ইসলাম মনি। জ্বালানি তেলসহ নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসের মূল্য বৃদ্ধির প্রতিবাদে আহুত বিক্ষোভ ও সমাবেশে অংশ নেয়ার উদ্দেশ্যে সাবেক এমপি নুরুল ইসলাম মনি পাথরঘাটায় আসছিলেন। পাথরঘাটা উপজেলা শহরের সোমবারে বিক্ষোভ ও সমাবেশে যোগ দেওয়ার কথা রয়েছে মনির। তাঁর আসার খবরে এলাকার আওয়ামী লীগ ছাত্রলীগ যুবলীগের মধ্যে ব্যাপক উত্তেজনা ছড়িয়ে ছিল। পাথরঘাটা উপজেলা বিএনপি আহ্বায়ক চৌধুরী মোহাম্মদ ফারুক জানান, আমি ঘটনাস্থলে উপস্থিত ছিলাম। আমাকেও তারা নির্মমভাবে পাঠিয়েছে। শতাধিক মোটরসাইকেল ভাঙচুরসহ অগ্নিসংযোগ করেছে। আহত হয়েছে কয়েক শত নেতাকর্মী। বর্তমানে আমরা আওয়ামীলীগ যুবলীগ ছাত্রলীগের ভয়ে জীবন রক্ষার্থে বিচ্ছিন্ন অবস্থা পড়ে আছি। তিনি আরো বলেন, কেন্দ্র ঘোষিত তেল গ্যাস ও নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় দ্রব্য মূল্যের ঊর্ধ্বগতির প্রতিবাদে সোমবার শান্তিপূর্ণ বিক্ষোভ মিছিল ও সমাবেশ করতে চেয়েছি।

ইতোমধ্যে আমরা পাথরঘাটা থানায় লিখিত অনুমতি চেয়েছি, আশা করছি প্রশাসন অনুমতিও দিয়েছে। আমরা চাইনি কোনো রকম অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনা ঘটুক। শান্তিপূর্ণভাবে আমাদের সমাবেশ করবো এটা আমাদের প্রত্যাশা ছিল। তাছাড়া দীর্ঘদিন পর সাবেক এমপি ও সাবেক বরগুনা জেলা সভাপতি নুরুল ইসলাম মনি তার নির্বাচনী এলাকায় এসে আমাদের সাথে শান্তিপূর্ণভাবে অংশ নেবেন আমরা সেভাবেই চিন্তা-ভাবনা করেছিলাম।

অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার পাথরঘাটা (সার্কেল) মোঃ তোফায়েল আহমেদ জানান, ঘটনা স্থলে পুলিশ পাঠানো হয়েছে। যতটুকু জানতে পেরেছি, ইতিমধ্যে ১০-১২ জন আহত হয়েছে এবং ৩০/৩৫টি মোটরসাইকেল ভাঙচুর করা হয়েছে। এলাকার পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় পুলিশ প্রেরণ করা হয়েছে।

Khulna Two motorcyclists were killed by a truckload of bypass of Rupsa Bridge in the metropolis. The accident took place near the new prison under construction around 10 o'clock on Friday night.

The deceased are Molla Naeem (26), son of Molla Shariful of Ratermahal Bar Mosque area, Shahid's son Saiful (35) and Rathermahal Paschimpa area, and Naeem was a day laborer.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Harintana Police Station Enamul Haque said that the motorcycle from Ratmermahal area towards Zero Point in Khulna A truck bound for Jessore was hit by a bypass near the under-construction prison, killing two passengers on the spot.

He said that after the accident, the truck quickly recovered and sent the body to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for investigation.

বরিশাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীদের ওপর হামলার প্রতিবাদ জানিয়ে মশাল মিছিল করেছে রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের (রাবি) শিক্ষার্থীরা এবং কয়েকটি বাম ছাত্র সংগঠন৷

বুধবার সন্ধ্যা ৭টায় শিক্ষার্থীরা ক্যাম্পাসে এ মিছিল বের করেন। মিছিলটি ক্যাম্পাসের বিভিন্ন সড়ক প্রদক্ষিণ শেষে শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবী স্মৃতিফলকের সামনে গিয়ে সংক্ষিপ্ত সমাবেশে মিলিত হয়।

এ সময় রাকসু আন্দোলন মঞ্চের সমন্বয়ক আব্দুল মজিদ অন্তর বলেন, ‘বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরা আজ রাস্তা-ঘাটে নির্যাতিত হচ্ছে, মার খাচ্ছে৷ অথচ এর কোনো বিচার হয় না৷ হামলাকারীদের পিছনে একটা মাফিয়া শক্তি আছে। যার কারণে, এর বিচার পাওয়া যায় না৷’

বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শাখা ছাত্র ফেডারেশনের সাধারণ সম্পাদক মহব্বত হোসেন মিলন বলেন, ‘যখন শিক্ষার্থীদের ওপর হামলা হয়, তখন পুলিশ আঙুল চোষে৷ শিক্ষার্থীরা রাষ্ট্রের মূল চালিকা শক্তি৷ তাই পুলিশি কায়দায় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীদের ওপর হামলা হচ্ছে৷ কিন্তু এর কোনো বিচার হয় না৷ বিচারহীনতার সংস্কৃতি এসব হামলা-মামলার জন্য দায়ী৷’

বিপ্লবী ছাত্র মৈত্রীর সাধারণ সম্পাদক রনজু বলেন, ‘বরিশালের শিক্ষার্থীদের ওপর হামলা চলাকালে পুলিশ প্রশাসন কোনো ব্যবস্থা নেয়নি৷ কারণ, বর্তমান রাষ্ট্রব্যবস্থা এরূপ পরিস্থিতি সৃষ্টির জন্য দায়ী৷’

ঘটনার সুষ্ঠু তদন্ত ও বিচার না হলে কঠোর আন্দোলনের হুঁশিয়ারও দেন শিক্ষার্থীরা ৷

Amir Khosru said, ‘When politicians decide how to write history, it is no longer history, it is a propaganda.’ He further said, ‘The declaration of independence and the first rebellion of the liberation war came from Chittagong. Therefore, the history of Chittagong is pre-liberation and wartime unforgettable. President Zitaur Rahman Kalurghat was not silent on the announcement of independence from the center of the country.’

Amir Khosru said, ‘Pakistan has taken away the right to vote. The people of this country fought on the streets and fought. Today, the democratic people of this country have to struggle for voting rights and democracy to celebrate the golden opposing independence of freedom. People's right to vote is being shameless.’

Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, a member of the BNP's standing committee, said, ‘The history of the liberation war of Bangladesh has now been a page. It is natural that there will be more than one hero in a liberation war. Now only one person is not a single person.’
