Romans the grassroots Awami League denounced anger

Abu Taher, Ramganj Correspondent:

The chief guest at the distribution of winter clothes, dheutin and cash by Jamaat financier housing businessman Abul Kalam at the South Chandipur Government Primary School in Chandipur Union of Ramganj Upazila of Lakshmipur was District Awami League General Secretary and MP for Lakshmipur-2, Advocate Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan, local Chandipur UP Chairman Shamsul Islam Suman and Ramganj Upazila Awami League leaders and activists. This has caused extreme anger among the leaders and activists of the Trinamool Awami League across the upazila.
Former chairman Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan, convener of Chandipur Union Awami League, and joint convener GS Nazrul Islam said, "We boycotted the event after learning that the event was being funded by a Jamaat leader." In 2019, when a waz mahfil was organized in the area under the chairmanship of Jamaat's financier Abul Kalam, with Jamaat's wazin Mufti Kazi Ibrahim and Maulana Nasir Uddin Helali as guests, the administration concerned stopped the waz mahfil in the face of opposition from party leaders and activists. Still, we do not know how the district Awami League general secretary is coming as the chief guest at the event of such a prominent person of Jamaat.
Also present at the distribution of winter clothes, dheutin and cash on Thursday afternoon, December 29, were Municipal Awami League General Secretary and former Municipal Mayor Belal Ahmed, Lamchar UP Chairman Faizullah Jisan, Chandipur UP Chairman Shamsul Islam Suman, etc. Despite attempts to contact housing businessman Abul Kalam in this regard, his statement could not be obtained.
Chandipur Union Krishak League President Jahangir Sheikh said that some mischievous people in the name of Awami League in this union had gone there with the aim of making the event successful by taking money from Jamaat leaders. Therefore, as a true Awami League, we strongly condemn and protest against it.
Awami League leader Iqbal Patwari said, "Jamaat's financier Abul Kalam's house is 10 km away from mine. I don't know him. And I didn't receive any invitation to that event."
5th Chandipur Union Parishad Chairman and President of the distribution program Shamsul Islam Sumon said, I went to the program because Lakshmipur-2 (Raipur) parliamentary constituency MP and Lakshmipur District Awami League General Secretary Adv. Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan called me. When I went to the program, I saw that I had been made the president. Apart from that, I do not know anything about it.
Belal Ahmed, general secretary of the city Awami League, said, "Abul Kalam was once involved in Jamaat politics. I knew this from many locals. Nevertheless, the general secretary of the district Awami League is coming, so I went."
Despite repeated attempts to contact Adv. Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan, MP for Lakshmipur-2 (Raipur) parliamentary constituency and General Secretary of Lakshmipur District Awami League, he could not be reached for comment on this issue.
