A crocodile measuring about six feet long has been caught in the Chitra River in Kalia Upazila of Narail.

On Monday (December 19) afternoon, villagers caught the crocodile with a net from the Chitra River adjacent to Jobayer Biswas's brick kiln in Kharia village of Kalia upazila.

It is learnt that the crocodile was caught in a net and taken to the shore and kept at the Perli Union Parishad (UP) premises. At that time, hundreds of people eagerly gathered there to see the crocodile. Later, the forest department was informed and the workers came in the evening and took the crocodile away.

Eyewitnesses said that on Monday afternoon, workers saw the large crocodile in the riverbank adjacent to Jobayer Biswas's brick kiln in Kharia village. When the news spread, the villagers surrounded the crocodile with nets and caught it.

In this regard, Perli UP Chairman Md. Jarjid Molya told Banglanews, on Monday afternoon, brick kiln workers saw the crocodile and informed others. Later, 10/12 people including Azimul Molya of Kharia village surrounded the crocodile with a large net and caught it. Later, it was kept under guard in the Union Parishad premises. In the evening, the crocodile was handed over to the concerned officials.

BNP has announced a 27-point outline to repair the state structure.

Consideration will be given to increasing the age limit for entry into government service in line with international standards.

24. Specific programs will be taken to ensure women's empowerment. Women will be given priority in principle in nominations to the National Parliament.

25. Need-based and knowledge-based education will be prioritized.

26. Based on the principle of "Health for All", universal healthcare will be introduced on the model of the UK's 'NHS'.

27. Fair prices for agricultural products will be ensured.

লক্ষ্মীপুরের কমলনগর উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের কার্যালয়ে হামলা ও টেবিল-চেয়ার ভাঙচুরের ঘটনায় বিএনপি’র ২১৫ নেতাকর্মীর বিরুদ্ধে থানায় মামলা হয়েছে। সোমবার (১২ ডিসেম্বর) রাতে উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের দলীয় কার্যালয়ে হামলা ও ভাংচুরের ঘটনায় বিএনপি নেতাকর্মীদের দায়ী করে রাতেই মামলা দায়ের করা হয়।

আওয়ামী লীগের অভিযোগ সোমবার রাতে বিএনপির নেতাকর্মীরা তাদের দলীয় কার্যালয়ে হামলা চালিয়ে ভাঙচুর করে। অপরদিকে, বিএনপির দাবি হামলা ভাঙচুরের নাটক সাজিয়ে বিএনপি নেতাকর্মীদের বিরুদ্ধে সাজানো মিথ্যা মামলা দেয়া হয়েছে। মামলার বাদি উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক মোহাম্মদ উল্ল্যা। তিনি ১৫ জনের নাম উল্লেখ করে আরও ১৫০ থেকে ২০০ জনকে অজ্ঞাত আসামি করে এ মামলা দায়ের করেন।

মামলার বাদি উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক মোহাম্মদ উল্ল্যা বলেন, রাত সাড়ে ১২টার দিকে উপজেলার চর ফলকন ইউনিয়ন বিএনপির সাধারণ সম্পাদক মোহাম্মদ ইব্রাহিমের নেতৃত্বে ১৫০ থেকে ২০০ জন বিএনপি’র নেতাকর্মীরা হাজিরহাট বাজারে অবস্থিত উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের কার্যালয়ে হামলা ও ভাঙচুর করে। এ ঘটনায় তিনি বাদি হয়ে থানায় মামলা দায়ের করেন।

এজাহারে উল্লেখিত মামলার অন্য আসামীরা হলেন, সাজ্জাদ হোসেন সাজু, রাহাত, জাহের, হেলাল, রাসেল, রাকিব, দোলন, দেলোয়ার, মোরশেদ, দেলোয়ার হোসেন মানিক, , মাইন উদ্দিন, ইব্রাহিম খলিল, নাজিম মেম্বার ও বেলাল।

কমলনগর উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি নিজাম উদ্দিন বলেন, বিএনপির নেতাকর্মীরা তাদের দলীয় কার্যালয়ে হামলা চালায়। এসময় তাদের চারজন নেতাকর্মী আহত হয়েছেন। আহতদের দুইজনকে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।

কমলনগর উপজেলা বিএনপির সদস্য সচিব নুরুল হুদা চৌধুরী বলেন, আওয়ামী লীগের নেতাকর্মীরা পরিকল্পিতভাবে রাতের আধাঁরে তারাই তাদের দলীয় কার্যালয়ের দু’চারটি চেয়ার টেবিল ভাঙচুরের নাটক সাজিয়ে বিএনপির নেতাকর্মীদের বিরুদ্ধে মিথ্যা মামলা দায়ের করেন।

কেন্দ্রীয় বিএনপি নেতা, লক্ষ্মীপুর-৪ (রামগতি ও কমলনগর) আসনের সাবেক সংসদ সদস্য এবিএম আশরাফ উদ্দিন নিজান বিএনপির নেতাকর্মীদের বিরুদ্ধে মিথ্যা মামলার ঘটনায় তীব্র নিন্দা জানান।

কমলনগর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. সোলাইমান মামলার বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে বলেন, ঘটনাটি তদন্ত কর জড়িতদের বিরুদ্ধে আইনগত ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।

জামায়াতে ইসলামী বাংলাদেশের আমির ডা. শফিকুর রহমানকে গ্রেফতার করেছে ডিএমপির কাউন্টার টেররিজম অ্যান্ড ট্রান্সন্যাশনাল ক্রাইম (সিটিটিসি) ইউনিট। প্রথমে মঙ্গলবার (১৩ ডিসেম্বর) ভোর ৪টার দিকে রাজধানীর উত্তরার বাসা থেকে তাকে নিয়ে যায় সাদা পোশাকধারীরা। পরে গ্রেফতার দেখায় সিটিটিসি।
ডিএমপির মিডিয়া অ্যান্ড পাবলিক রিলেশনস বিভাগের উপ-কমিশনার (ডিসি) মো. ফারুক হোসেন বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন। তিনি বলেন, জামায়াতের আমির ডা. শফিককে গ্রেফতার করেছে সিটিটিসি। তবে কোন মামলায় তাকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করতে পারেননি তিনি।

এর আগে জামায়াতের কেন্দ্রীয় কর্মপরিষদ সদস্য ও ঢাকা মহানগর দক্ষিণের সেক্রেটারি ড. শফিকুল ইসলাম মাসুদ সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যম ফেসবুকে তার পেজে আটকের বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন। কী কারণে বা কোন মামলায় ডা. শফিকুরকে আটক করা হয়েছে, তিনিও সেটি নিশ্চিত করতে পারেননি।

ডিসি মো. ফারুক হোসেনের কাছ থেকে নিশ্চিত হওয়ার আগে ডা. শফিকুর রহমানকে আটকের বিষয়ে জানতে পুলিশের একাধিক কর্মকর্তার সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা করে বাংলানিউজ। তারা বিষয়টি নিয়ে কথা বলতে রাজি ছিলেন না।

একটি মাধ্যম থেকে জানা যায়, ভোরে আটকের পর রাজধানীর মিন্টো রোডে ডিবির কার্যালয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়েছিল জামায়াতের আমিরকে।

উল্লেখ্য, গত ১০ ডিসেম্বর বিএনপির সঙ্গে যুগপৎ আন্দোলনের কর্মসূচি ঘোষণা করে জামায়াত। আগামী ২৪ ডিসেম্বর থেকে তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারসহ নানা দাবীতে মাঠে থাকার ঘোষণা দেয় দলটি। এর আগে গত ৯ নভেম্বর জঙ্গি সম্পৃক্ততার অভিযোগে জামায়াত আমিরের ছেলে রাফাত সাদিক সাইফুল্লাহকে গ্রেফতার করে পুলিশ।
