The Indian Navy announced this information in a statement on Saturday, according to NDTV.<\/p><\/div>\n

The report said that the Indian warship INS Kolkata foiled a pirate attack on the MV Ruen, which was anchored 2,600 km off the Indian coast, after a 40-hour operation. Another Indian ship, INS Subhadra, also participated in the operation.<\/div>\n

In a post on microblogging site X, the Indian Navy said that 35 pirates on board the Maltese-flagged bulk cargo ship MV Rouen have surrendered. The ship has been checked for illegal arms, ammunition and drugs.<\/div>\n

The ship was hijacked by Somali pirates in December. The European Union Navy said the ship may have been used as a base by the pirates for the Bangladeshi-flagged cargo ship hijacked off the coast of Somalia this week.<\/div>\n

On March 4, the 13-meter-deep vessel MV Abdullah of Bangladesh's SR Shipping departed from Maputo port in Mozambique with coal for the United Arab Emirates. After that, at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday, news came that the ship had been hijacked in the Indian Ocean.<\/div>\n
