International Right to Information Day today
Today, Wednesday (September 28) is the International Right to Information Day, this year the day will be celebrated under the theme of ‘Ensuring people's right to information in the age of information technology’.
The people of different countries of the world will be celebrated every year internationally on the occasion of their right to know all kinds of information about their own country.
On the occasion of the International Right to Information Day, a discussion meeting was organized at Bangladesh Film Archive Milnatutan in Agargaon of the capital today at 10 am. Hasan Mahmud will be present as the chief guest, informed by the information commission public relations officer Liton Kumar Pramanik.
On the occasion of the day, President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages today.
The President said that the Right to Information Act is enacted for the welfare of the people. The free disclosure of information will keep the relationship of trust between the people and the state uplifted.
He said that the free, correct and consistent expression of information will increase the awareness among the people on the one hand, on the other hand the good governance of the authorities will be ensured, the relationship of trust between the people and the state will be upheld.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in the speech that the Information Commission is working tirelessly to reach the doorsteps of the people and the benefits of the Right to Information Act, and efforts to remove the existing barriers in getting people's information continue.
