Call for a ban on single-use plastics

Environment workers have called for ban on plastic once-used plastic in the country. The Environment and Social Development Organization (Sdo) has been called at the meeting titled ‘Plastic Pollution Two of the Plastic Treaty Negotiation’ at the tourist building of the capital on Wednesday.
In the speech of the chief guest, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, president of the Parliamentary Statistical Committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Water Changes, said that the government and the people should work together to reduce plastic pollution, which will facilitate the path of the global plastic agreement.
Esdo chairperson and former secretary Syed Margub Morshed also spoke under the chairmanship of former secretary Dr. Mahfuzul Haque, Chief Executive Officer of Dhaka North City Corporation Salim Reza, Secretary General of Esdo. Shahriar Hossain, President of Plastic Association Shamim Ahmed and others.
In the event, about 15,345 tons of plastic waste is entering Bangladesh through 18 transboundary rivers in Bangladesh, 2,802 tons of India and Myanmar.
