Environment Minister suggests developing climate-tolerant crop varieties

Minister of Environment, Forest and Water Change. Shahab Uddin said that in the future, new varieties of crops and agricultural technologies should be developed to adapt to the changing climate to meet the food and nutrition needs of the people of the country.

At the same time, in the field of agricultural production and marketing, one should be aware of the use of chemicals and pesticides that are harmful to public health and the environment.

The Environment Minister said these things in the speech of the special guest of the 17th National Conference and Seminar of the Bangladesh Agricultural Economists Association at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council on Tuesday (September 7) afternoon.

The environment minister said that the current government has taken a very effective initiative to deal with the change in water and adaptation, and for this purpose, the target of a total of 21.85 percent carbon emission reduction has been set in the latest NDC, where the agricultural sector has also been included.
