Steel industry in crisis of existence due to increase in electricity prices

As a result of the recent increase in the price of electricity, the steel industry has been in a record magnitude of the export of the country's housing and infrastructure sector in an extreme existential crisis.

BSMA President Mohammad Jahangir Alam read out a written statement at a press conference at Zahoor Hossain Chowdhury Hall.

In a written statement, he said, due to the new tariff of electricity, the impact of the price increase of the price of VAT, port charge, fuel and transport, ferro-all and other consumers can reach 3,560 taka per metric ton per metric ton of steel production in the electricity sector alone.
