Government to purchase textbooks worth Tk 489 crore

The government will buy 11 crore 1001 thousand 474 textbooks for the next academic year to distribute free textbooks to primary and secondary level students, which will cost a total of 489 crore 25 lakh 28 thousand 926 taka.

On Wednesday (September 21) at noon, the Cabinet Committee on Government Crt held under the chairmanship of Virtual Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has approved the separate proposal in this regard. After the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Md. Abdul Barik told reporters that two proposals were made for the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and 11 proposals for the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Krt. Among the Krata Proposals, three of the Ministry of Industries, three from the Ministry of Commerce, one two from the Department of Local Government, one from the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, one of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture.
In the 11 proposals approved by the Crt Committee, the total amount of money is 1 thousand 903 crore 87 lakh 1 thousand 923 taka.

Highering the proposal, the additional secretary said that secondary and higher education The National Curriculum and Textbook Board under the Department has approved the proposal of printing, binding and supplying 489 crore 25 lakh 28 thousand 926 taka 11 crore 20 lakh 1 thousand 474 textbooks.

These include Ibtedati (1st and 2nd class), Secondary (Bengali and English versions), 6th and VII, Dakhil level sixth and VII, Teacher Guides and Technical Books for the distribution of free textbooks for primary and secondary students.

The additional secretary said that the proposal to buy these textbooks through open tenders in 182 lots has been approved and the textbooks will be purchased for the next academic year.
