Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has decided to keep the wholesale price of electricity unchanged and decided at 11 am on Thursday morning at 11 am in the morning at the 11 am virtual press conference.

Earlier on May 18, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) held a public hearing on the proposed price of electricity at the wholesale level of the companies. The BERC Act has issued an order within 90 working days after the public hearing. The result will be announced today.

Members Maqbool-e Ilahi, member Bazlur Rahman, member Abu Farooq, BERC Secretary Khalilur Rahman and others were also present in the press conference.

Earlier, the current price of Bangladesh Electricity Development Board (BPDB) in the public hearing applied for a price of Tk 8.58 per unit to 8.58 per unit. This proposal of BPDB is considered Tk 4.45 per unit. After that proposal, the price of gas per unit increased to 57.55. The BERC Technical Committee has an opinion of 8.16 rupees to make the subsidy of 8.16 rupees. There has never been a precedent for the price increase of such a large amount in the past. After verification, BERC prepared a proposal to increase the price of 19.92 percent. However, BERC has withdrawn from there for various reasons including recent load shedding.

Before this, the price of electricity was increased by 27th February 2020. Electricity, retail and transmission - electricity prices will increase in these three stages. General customer level (retail) electricity price per unit is 5.3 percent or 7 taka 13 pa.

Which was earlier 6 taka 77 per unit. The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has officially announced that afternoon, the price of electricity in wholesale is 8.4 percent per unit of 5 taka 17 per unit.
