On Wednesday (October 7), his lawyer Mahabubur Rahman applied for bail in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam, his lawyer Mahabubur Rahman claimed in the hearing that the accused has reached an agreement with SM Masum Billah, the father of the case and the father of the deceased Moritam, and there is no objection to the bail of the plaintiff. However, after the hearing of both sides, the court has denied the bail application of the member of parliament.
Earlier on September 30, the same case was filed on bail by Nazrul Islam and his first wife Makchuda Islam. On that day, the court granted bail to Makchuda but rejected Nazrul's application.
According to the details of the case, the police recovered the hanging body of Maryam Khatun from a flat in NAM Bhavan opposite Sangsad Bhavan on September 20. Later, her father SM Masum Billah filed a case against the Sherebangla Nagar police station for inciting suicide in the case, Gazi Nazrul Islam, his first wife Makchuda Islam and Maryam's maternal uncle Obaidur Rahman.
