Three benches in the Appellate Division from today

From today (December 11) the judicial proceedings will continue in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in 3 benches, according to the agenda of the Appellate Division on Sunday published on the Supreme Court's website.

At the time, there were six judges in the Appellate Division, including the Chief Justice, one of them on leave, so a 5-judge bench headed by the Chief Justice was conducting the proceedings, among which the President appointed three judges of the High Court Division on December 8.

According to Article 95(1) of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the President has appointed three judges working in the High Court Division from the date of their swearing in the Appellate Division.

The three judges are - Justice Md. Ashfaqul Islam, Justice Md. Abu Zafar Siddiqui and Justice Jahangir Hossain, the same afternoon, the Supreme Court's Judges Lounge administered the oath of office to three judges, after the swearing-in of the Appellate Division.

The other members of the Appellate Division's No. 1 Court under the leadership of Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui are Justice M Inayetur Rahim and Justice Jahangir Hossain.

The other members of the Appellate Division's No. 2, led by Justice Md Nuruzzaman, are Justice Borhan Uddin and Justice Md. Another member of Court No. 3 of the Appellate Division led by Abu Zafar Siddiqui, Justice Obaidul Hasan, is Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam.
