1 arrested for posting derogatory picture of Prime Minister on Facebook in Kamalnagar

Police have arrested a businessman named Mizanur Rahman in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur, on charges of posting derogatory pictures of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury on Facebook. He was arrested from Munshirhat Bazar in Charmartin Union of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon. He is the son of Fazal Karim of the area.

Locals said that Mizan, a local BNP activist, son of Fazal Karim of the area, posted a derogatory picture of Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury on Facebook this morning. When local Awami League and Chhatra League leaders and activists informed the police about this, the police arrested him.

Abul Kalam Azad, in-charge of the Hazirhat Investigation Center, confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the matter is being investigated.
