Saikat Mahmud Shamsu wins Zilla Parishad election

  Amidst great enthusiasm and tight administrative security, Ramganj Upazila Jubo League convener and former District Council member Saikat Mahmud Shamsu won the Lakshmipur District Council election with a huge margin of victory, wearing the padlock symbol. Voting began at 8 am and continued till 2 pm. After the counting of votes, Saikat Mahmud Shamsu was elected with 135 votes, while his nearest rival, former Upazila Jubo League President Liakat Hossain, received 10 votes.

Darbeshpur Union Parishad member Md. Yasin Alam, Ichapur Union Parishad member Billal Hossain, Faruk Hossain, Bhatra Union Parishad member Yasin Arafat Wasim, Ali Ashraf member said that Saikat Mahmud Shamsu has been asking voters for votes door to door even before the schedule was announced. He is trying to garner the support of leaders and activists of Awami League and other allied organizations.

Winning candidate Saikat Mahmud Shamsu said, this victory is the victory of all the voters of the public representatives of Ramganj Upazila. This victory is not mine, this victory is the victory of all the voters of the Zilla Parishad of the Upazila. He expressed his gratitude to the MP of Lakshmipur-1 Ramganj parliamentary constituency Dr. Anwar Hossain Khan MP, the Chairman of the Upazila Parishad Bir Muktijoddha Alhaj Monir Hossain Chowdhury, the Mayor Bir Muktijoddha Abul Khair Patwari, the Chairman, Members, and Councilors of various Union Parishads. This victory will be meaningful to me through the success of working for the welfare of the people of Ramganj from the Zilla Parishad.
