Staff Correspondent:
Lakshmipur Police Superintendent ASM Mahatab Uddin said, "We ourselves criticize others for committing corruption. We make others aware of not committing corruption. But I myself am not aware. So if I promise myself that no matter who else commits corruption, I will not do it, then only will it be possible to prevent corruption." He said, "I will do my job, I will build my country."
He made these comments at a discussion meeting on International Anti-Corruption Day at the Lakshmipur Deputy Commissioner's conference room this (December 9) Saturday morning.
At this time, the Superintendent of Police said, "In our society, a formalin-laced fish seller goes to a fruit shop and asks if the fruit is adulterated. Again, an adulterated fruit seller goes to a pharmacy and asks if the expiration date and company of the medicine are good. An adulterated medicine seller goes to the police station and says that there is no work here without money. Similarly, a police officer of the police station goes out on a professional duty and after driving for some distance, the car stops due to adulterated oil. In this way, each of us is involved in corruption."
Therefore, if we ourselves are aware first, it will be possible to prevent corruption, the country will be free from corruption, and it will be possible to build the Bangladesh of our dreams.
The discussion organized by the Lakshmipur Deputy Commissioner and Noakhali ACC Joint Office and in collaboration with the Aware Citizens Committee (SANAC) and the District Corruption Prevention Committee was attended by Deputy Commissioner Homayra Begum. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, Assistant Director of Noakhali ACC Joint Office Al Mamun, Principal of Lakshmipur Government College Main Uddin Pathan, Panel Chairman of the District Council Farida Yasmin Lika, District SANAC President Professor Mahbub Mohammad Ali, among others.
Earlier, a human chain, oath-taking, and balloon and pigeon flying were held at the Collectorate premises to mark the day.
