The court has again postponed the hearing on framing charges in two defamation cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to January 26. Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor fixed the date on Tuesday following a request for time.

Gazi Zahirul Islam, former joint general secretary of the Dhaka Union of Journalists, filed the case against Khaleda Zia on August 30, 2016, alleging that she celebrated a fake birthday.

In addition, a defamation case was filed against Khaleda Zia in court on charges of defaming the country's map and national flag by hoisting the national flag on the cars of identified anti-liberation activists. On November 3, 2016, Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddiqui filed the case.
