The Day of the Martyred Intellectuals' Murder in Baniyachang was observed with due dignity.
The day began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the local Freedom Fighters Memorial at 10 am on Wednesday, December 14.
The discussion meeting was held at the Baniachong Upazila Parishad auditorium at 11 am.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Abul Kashem Chowdhury spoke as the chief guest at the meeting held under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer Padmasan Singh.
Vice Chairman Hasina Akhter spoke as the special guest.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Iffat Ara Zaman Urmi, Officer-in-Charge Ajay Chandra Deb, Agriculture Officer Md. Enamul Haque, Animal Resources Officer Saifur Rahman, Social Service Officer Saiful Islam Pradhan, Secondary Education Officer Kawsar Shokrana, and Rural Savings Bank Officer Sudip Kumar Dey spoke.
Present at the event were Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Nurul Ekram, Project Implementation Officer Malay Kumar Das, Delwar Hossain, Baniachong Press Club President Mosahed Mia, teacher Zaba Pal and others.

The speakers said that as part of demoralizing the Bengali nation, the nation's talented children were killed in cold blood on December 14, before the final victory on December 16, 1971.
At the time, the speakers also said that everyone should work to take this country forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, keeping Bangabandhu's ideals in their hearts.
At this time, prayers are offered for the peace of the souls of the martyred intellectuals.
