2 arrested for torturing child worker Sohel in Lakshmipur

Own Correspondent: Police have arrested two accused named Kalu Mia and Zabiullah Patwari in connection with the torture of a 10-year-old child named Sohel by tying him to a tree in Lakshmipur. The arrested were sent to court this afternoon.
Earlier on Wednesday night, Anwara Begum, the mother of the child Sohel, who was tortured, filed a case with Chandraganj Police Station. The accused were arrested that night, police said.

Chandraganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Moktar Hossain said that a case has been registered after investigating the matter of torture of child laborers and finding out the truth. Two people have been arrested and sent to court, the OC said.

Incidentally, the child Sohel, son of Shahidul Hossain, a resident of Kusakhali in Sadar Upazila, was working as a laborer at Babul's tea shop in Mandari Bazar. Last Tuesday, around 10 am, while coming from Babul's house near Mandari Bazar to the shop, he defecated in a garden. For this, Zabiulya and Kalu Patwari caught him, tied him to a tree and beat him severely with sticks and brooms. In the afternoon, with the help of the local UP chairman, the child was rescued and given treatment.
