Staff Correspondent: 51 second-year honors and degree students of Lakshmipur Government University College did not participate in the exam. They gave about two lakh taka to Osman Gani, a part-time employee of the Islamic Studies Department of the college, for filling out the form. He did not fill out the students' forms even after taking the money. On Wednesday (November 29), the students came to know about the cheating when they came to take the exam. They became extremely angry about this.

The matter was complained to Nurul Afsar Chowdhury, head of the Islamic Studies Department of the college. He asked them to wait for the exam next year. This has made the educational life of the cheated uncertain. Osman did not come to the college on Wednesday, his statement could not be known as he turned off his mobile phone and covered his face.

It was found that Osman, a part-time employee, was managing all the official work of the teachers and students of the Islamic Studies Department. On this basis, he embezzled 199,500 taka by promising to fill the forms of 51 students, including regular and irregular students of the 2nd and 3rd year of honors and degrees, in October and November. The students who paid the money came to the college to collect the admit cards on Tuesday (November 28). At that time, Osman told them that the admit cards would be given before the start of the exam on Wednesday (November 29). In the morning, when they came to collect the admit cards, the matter of fraud was confirmed. At that time, they did not see Osman in the college. He turned off his mobile phone and covered his face.

Shibbir Ahmed and Nurey Alam, 2nd year students of the Islamic Studies Department, said, "Osman is a very trusted employee of our department head Nurul Afsar Chowdhury. On his instructions, we gave Osman about 2 lakh taka to fill out the forms for 51 students of different academic years. Since he did not fill out the forms, we did not receive any admit cards. We will file a complaint with the National University regarding the cheating."

Attempts to reach Nurul Afsar Chowdhury, head of the college's Islamic Studies Department, on his mobile phone for comment on the matter were unsuccessful.

However, Lakshmipur Government College Principal Main Uddin Pathan said, "There is no rule to take cash for filling the form. I came to know about this today. An academic meeting has been called for this at 11 am on Thursday. The department concerned has been instructed to respond to this issue."
