Government officials' foreign travel relaxed under 4 conditions

Restrictions on government officials traveling abroad have been relaxed. The government has taken this decision with the aim of continuing its efforts to enhance the skills of officials.

A directive in this regard was issued by the Budget Division of the Ministry of Finance on Monday (September 19). It mentions four conditions for traveling abroad.

The conditions –

1. Travel abroad for studying Masters and PhD courses can be done with government funding under the operational and development budget and with foreign funding under scholarships/fellowships provided by various development partner organizations/universities/countries.

2. Foreign travel can be undertaken to participate in specialized/professional training organized under the Management and Development Budget based on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the government and various foreign training institutions/universities.

4. Officials with technical knowledge, including relevant officials, may travel abroad for the purpose of inspecting the quality of services/products funded by the supplier/contractor/consultant.
