When the coastal town of Lakshmipur was devastated by the impact of Cyclone Sitrang, which originated in the Andaman Sea, District Superintendent of Police Md. Mahfuzzaman Ashraf stood by the cyclone-affected people of the district.

On Monday (October 24), the Superintendent of Police inquired about 5,352 people in 13 shelters in the coastal region.

District Superintendent of Police Majuchaudhuri Hat inquired about the people sheltering at Launch Ghat and other shelters under the police station and the people on the river banks. During this time, he distributed dry food among the people affected by the natural disaster. In addition, the Superintendent of Police assured the general public of the district police's cooperation in any need.

In this regard, the Superintendent of Police wrote on his Facebook wall, Cyclone Sitrang... We, the Lakshmipur District Police, are always alerting people in the coastal areas throughout the day and ensuring safety for people taking shelter in the cyclone center. Strong wind speed, turbulent waves of the river, rapid rise of water, cold chilly effect, rainfall flowing in torrents and panic among people.

The struggle for life and survival of the people of the coastal char areas seems to flow in a natural current. Life seems to be lived in their own way, despite the frequent suffering of disasters.
