Hearing of August 21 grenade attack case today

On August 21, 2004, the death reference of the grenade attack case, the appeal and jail appeal hearing of the then opposition leader and current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka's Bangabandhu Avenue will begin today Monday (October 31).

The High Court bench of Justice Sahidul Karim and Justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after hearing an application in this poisoned case on Sunday (October 30).

The barbaric attack of the Aomi League, killed 24 people, including the leaders and workers of the Awami League, was injured in the past few hundred and injured.

The much-discussed case on October 10, 2018, the judicial court sentenced 19 people, including former state minister for home Lutfuzzaman Babar and BNP leader Abdus Salam Pintu, to death of 19 people including BNP senior vice chairman (currently acting chairman) Tarek Rahman.

He will be jailed in various cases to 11 other accused. Later on November 27 of that year, the death reference branch of the High Court arrived with the record documents of the judicial court.

The lawyers said that when the criminal court sentences the accused to death, the court will be approved by the High Court for the execution of that sentence. That is why the relevant judicial court has sent all the documents of the case to the High Court under Section 374 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which is known as the Death Reference. After the document came, the High Court's Death Reference Branch examined the case and prepared the paper book for the hearing.

On August 16 last year, the paper book of the grenade attack case came to the Supreme Court after being prepared from BG Press.

The current Prime Minister and Awami League president, the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina, was narrowly swept away by the attack on the Aomi League rally on August 21, 2004.

However, 24 people including Ivy Rahman, wife of former President (Prat) Zillur Rahman, were killed. More than three hundred leaders and activists of the party were injured. The day after the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Motijheel Police Station Farooq Ahmed filed a case in the plaintiff.
