Awami League General Secretary and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader said, I don't think BNP is a democratic party. There is no precedent for democracy in their history. They have killed democracy, turned it into a farce. They never obeyed the democratic rules even within the party.

He said these things after paying tributes at the tomb of Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque on the occasion of his 62nd death anniversary on Saturday morning.

Obaidul Quader said, BNP does not consider the people as the main issue to gain power by slavery. Slavery of foreign masters can go to power? Still their predicament is how to go to power by enslaving foreign masters?

He also said, they talk big, when did they have a party council? Where did they party council? 7-8 years ago there was a central committee meeting at La Méridien. Jambujet Marka Committee of 501 people belongs to them. Therefore, we do not expect those who do not have democracy within their own party to establish democracy in the country.

Regarding Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque, Obaidul Quader said that national leader Sher Bangla was one of the people who took politics to common people in this country. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman inspired the common people with the mantra of freedom. The farmers of rural Bengal will never forget Shere Bangla. He will forever be remembered among them. He is still remembered for protecting usurer moneylenders from tyranny by forming the Debt Arbitration Board.

Obaidul Quader also said, today our commitment is to form the non-communal Bangladesh of Bangabandhu, Suhrawardy, Maulana Bhasani, Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we are fighting to build a humane and non-communal Bangladesh. That is the dream of Sheree Bangla AK Fazlul Haque and that is our pledge today.
