A human chain and protest rally was held in front of the National Press Club on Sunday, August 10, at 4 pm, in protest of the indiscriminate killing, torture and deportation of Rohingyas in Myanmar and their forcible transfer to Bangladesh. JSD President ASM Abdur Rob, Bikalp Dhara Bangladesh Secretary General Major (Retd) MA Mannan, Nagrik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, JSD General Secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, Gano Forum Executive President Adv. Subrata Chowdhury, Nagrik Oikya Central Leader Mr. Mominul Islam, Bikalp Dhara Bangladesh Leader Shah Ahmed Badal, JSD Leader Ataul Karim Faruk, Gano Forum Leader Mostaq Ahmed, among others, will speak at the event. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD President ASM Abdurrab said in his speech that Myanmar has been forcing millions of Rohingyas to enter Bangladesh through barbaric killings, murders, rapes and tortures under various pretexts at different times. Currently, this problem has taken a serious shape. They are not taking into account any diplomatic agreement or investigation report of the Anan Commission. Stopping Myanmar from this inhuman and arrogant behavior and returning millions of Rohingya refugees who have taken refuge in Bangladesh to their homeland is the only way to stop the Rohingyas.
UN peacekeeping forces should be sent to the Rakhine region of Myanmar to ensure the passage. Rob said that there are mistakes and limitations in the government's diplomatic activities in this regard. The government must overcome the urgency. JSD General Secretary Abdul Malek Ratan said that the problems created by the Rohingya issue have taken the form of a national crisis. In such a situation, the government must immediately forget about party interests and take initiatives to build national unity.
