1 killed, 20 injured in separate road accidents in Lakshmipur

Lakshmipur:

One person was killed and at least 20 people were injured in separate road accidents in Lakshmipur.

The accident occurred on Monday (January 21) morning in the Tukamia Road and Jadaiya areas of Sadar Upazila.

The deceased has been identified as Kazi Sirajul Islam. He is the son of Abdul Matin of Char Jangalia village in Kamalnagar upazila. The names of the injured were not initially known.

Eyewitnesses said that a battery-powered autorickshaw lost control and crashed into a tree on Tuka Mia Road in Majupur area of Sadar Upazila. Autorickshaw passenger Kazi Sirajul Islam died on the spot.

On the other hand, a bus belonging to Ananda Paribahan, which left from Begumganj in Noakhali, lost control and fell into a ditch when it reached the Jadaiya area of the upazila. 20 passengers of the bus were injured.

Upon receiving the information, two units of the Fire Service sent rescue teams to various clinics including the Sadar Hospital.

Dr. Anwar Hossain, Resident Medical Officer of Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, confirmed the matter and told Banglanews that the condition of some of the injured is critical.
